Latest from – Ana The Dog Lady of Guadalajara
My name is Ana, and I care for street dogs in Mexico.
Recently, my life changed suddenly when a sink in my bathroom collapsed while I was cleaning the floor. I don’t even remember touching it, but it was already weakened and fell. A heavy piece hit my leg and cut deeply into my shin. There was a lot of blood — for a moment I thought I had hit an artery. I was taken to Guadalajara where they cleaned the wound and gave me seven stitches. I am now in recovery and must rest for around 15 days.
But the dogs did not stop needing me.
I care for around 12 street dogs — some chained, some abandoned, some mothers with puppies. They depend on me completely for food, water, and basic care. When I arrive, they run to me because they know I will help them. I clean wounds, treat infections, give deworming tablets, apply treatment for ticks, and try to ease their suffering however I can.

There is also a little white female dog with brown spots who has already had puppies and is now in heat again. The male dogs are following her constantly. She urgently needs to be sterilised, but I have not been able to organise it yet.

My weekly costs are:
- 1 sack of kibble – 500 pesos
2 chickens – 250 pesos
Rice – 30 pesos
Vegetables – 60 pesos
Total: 840 pesos per week (around £32–£36)

I never imagined that an accident like this would place everything at risk. But I also believe something deeply: if I am okay, then my animals are okay too. So I am trying to heal while also making sure they do not suffer. I am asking for help so that I can continue feeding them while I recover. Even the smallest support makes a real difference — it becomes food, water, treatment, and hope for dogs who have nothing else
Please help Us to Help Ana this amazing lady who sacrifices so much.
We now also have a PawPal scheme, where your own dog can sponsor a street dog for as little as £9 per month. It creates a bond of care between dogs who are safe and those still struggling to survive on the streets.
